Cool What affordable upgrade can I get for a '04 Limited Edition 911?

I was wondering what upgrades I can upgrade in a 2004 Porsche 911 Limited Edition that is also CarbLegal and able to pass smog? Something that is affordable as well. What brand names are good? Air Filter? Headers? Exhaust System? Flash the computer? Also, what shop can I go to, to have these parts installed? Thanks.

Congrats on your 40th anniversary.

Probably the most common cheap upgrades are
-Fister muffler bypass hack (for sound)
-997 short shift kit (SSK) or BM SSK

I don't think any intake / exhaust / flash mods will make much hp gains that you would notice.

Post a pic of your car.

Not to hijack thread, Balefire can you post pics of your car with those TE37's? Thinking about getting a set.

You could add a sprintbooster to make the throttle more lively, too.

B&M short shift kit, PSS10 coil overs, LWFW would be my first moves. Then how about supercup intake and headers/cats/mufflers from Fabspeed. Lower pulley kit, intake plenum. Have the chip flashed by Fabspeed or send it to S-Car-Go in northern Cal. Add some Toyo R888s. O ya, when you have the tranny out for the clutch and flywheel have the RMS and IMS upgrade done. Maybe a lightweight battery...some other stuff I can't remember.

How much did you say you wanted to spend?

Depends on what you mean by affordable... that is a very expansive statement.

Nitrogen air fill in your tires may be what you consider as affordable. Others may find other things much more affordable.

Give us a budget, I'm sure you'll get lots of ideas...

Cheers
Aaron

Assuming from your name that you are in Northern Virginia (?), go to IMA Motorsport and talk to Ivan Arzola.

Cool 1st response to your greatful advices.

Wow...I had to do some major research on everyone's ideas for upgrades. To answer some of your questions, I can go as cheaply as under >$100 (for looks type of purchases) at this moment in time, probably max out at around $5,000.oo. I was looking into some high quality Turbo Kits, but that will cost just for parts and no labor around 12K. There were also very cheap Turbo's by itself as well, but the problem was passing it through smog, unless I pay extra cash from a smog check shop to pass me...I am really amateur in this area for upgrading my Porsche, but any help will do and I definitely appreciate the help thus far. I am mainly for performance, such as speed and power and less on looks, but I am learning that upgrading looks is cheaper, easier and some are reversible (but I will never resale). **Is Fabspeed for 996 package deals (price and quality of products) the best on the planet with high quality brand and materials or just an option? Does Fabspeed have shops in San Diego, CA. to buy from and INSTALL at their local locations? I am thinking it is a parts only with no labor/install. EeK. Your thoughts for 996 Maxflo Sport Headers $1,555? Recommend any other manufacturer Headers and better pricing? Also, 996 Maxflo Competition Air Intake $595?

balefire : Wow..I heard a few muffle bypass hack, and it sounds very track status. My question is, I am finding it gives no additional boosts, power or any gains, but just pure mean sound, is that correct?

tarzancoe: I like the simplicity of the sprint booster, but I at the moment have no qualms with the current throttle status. Although, I never tried driving a Porsche with a Sprint Booster installed.

@Purplxd: I like the start of the nitrogen air filled tires, on my quick search that I found it is roughly around $10 per tire, yes?

gsieck: So far your recommendations is what I have been hearing locally lately from other car shop owners. Wow Fabspeed is where its at as far as package deals.

@Marco997TT : I am from San Diego, CA. (just opened this 6speed acct the other day).

+1 on the 997 SSK
I've heard many negative comments re the B&N SSK - I would stay away

N3llyNova---We are located on the East Coast but you can have our products installed at Black Forest Porsche local to you. The performance package includes the full exhaust and either the cold air kit with BMC F1 filter or you can opt for the carbon fiber competition intake. GSieck has the full package on his Carrera including the Competition Intake. Just the exhaust & intake components alone will improve power from 345HP to about 365HP, add the ECU upgrade and you will be close to 375HP.
You can email me at Joey@fabspeed.com for a direct communication, or just call Fabspeed 215-646-4945 to get more information regarding the performance products for your 40th Anniversary.

HI ALL,
Hoping to find any help regarding installing
1999-2004 PORSCHE CARRERA 2/4 911 SMOKE LED TAIL LIGHTS I recently purchased for my 2004 Porsche 911 40th Anniversary Limited Edition? Please see link below (from ebay) on exact purchase and how the wiring looks. I am hoping I can install without any electrical cuts or splicing to have done.

Please help!
FYI: It fits perfectly, but the wiring end tips look totally different and I can't seem to understand the instructions of plug and play application.

I did a lot of research and just remember a lot of that extra "horsepower" will come at the expense of low end torque and or be in the upper RPM ranges.

correct. the fister/PSE muffler bypass hack is just sound. no hp gains.

if this is not a daily driver car, you could consider muffler bypass pipes to gain 5+ hp, save 40+ lbs from the rear, but at the expense of low end torque, not to mention possible hearing loss. =)
