It is heavily camouflaged, if you look closely at the 4th pic, the roof line has some type of disguise and I believe that it is supposed to look like a 996 just in case it is spied. When all is said and done I'm sure it will look quite different and will not have the same sillhouette as the 911.

In the articles they have mentioned that they specifically are disguising it to look like a 996. I'm sure Porsche would not be so shortsighted and reckless to its current owners of the 996 as to make the new Boxster look identical or even similar enough to be mistaken from most angles.

I agree Itzkirb. I've seen a variety of pics and articles around the Boxster coupe concept and I think it's ****. I thought the whole point of this model was to broaden the buying audience. I believe there are plenty of Boxster owners or potential buyers who want Boxsters - not weird looking 996s.

I have yet to read anything about this car but it looks like a rear engine car to me.

All I know is that if my '02 996 morphs into a Boxster, I am going to be really pi**ed.

Nothing against boxsters, but I bought my 996 for the way it looks different than boxsters....what is Germany thinking?

Perhaps if they morph the Boxster into a 996 it will force us to "upgrade" to a 997.....hmmmm.

I think that last photshop image is probably very close. The articles that have accompanied many of the Boxster coupe pics have all mentioned that the test mules wore 997 body panels to hide the true shape. We'll just have to wait and see what the final car looks like...I am actually looking forward to the 997 more than the next Boxster...I have a Boxster....it's time to move up in this world.
