02 Climate Control

Okay, so my wife and I took the car out with no particular place to go last night, and we ended up driving through 2 states, 4 counties and 1 parish, lol. However, the problem came approximately 2am when we got caught in severe thunderstorms, it was crazy within 30 sec the temp dropped 7 degrees, limbs were getting blown all over the road, all kinds of good tornado weather. It all happen so fast there was no way to stop and put the top up, so we hauled butt to get to the next awning we could find to get the top up, so we wouldn't flood the car by stopping.

By the time we got to the nearest place the interior there was some mist from the wind driven rain on the dash and stuff, but nothing heavy. I wiped it all down with a microfiber towel I keep in the glove department and went one my way. About 25 minutes later part of the 7 on the climate control went dark. As I started adjusting the temp up and down different parts would illuminate. Here's the weird part, when going down it goes 73, 72, 0, 69, 87,84,83, 66, etc.. Lo. It jumps to the 80s in the 60s and in the 80s it shows the 60s, lol.
I'm not sure WTF is going on, but would love to know if anyone could help me out. I doubt it was getting a little mist on it, but it was right after words.

I'm familiar with LCD bleed, but not showing 80s when it should show 60s. PS the unit still works properly like it should, other than the display on the fritz.

it may have just gotten moisture in it from the top down, put a heater in the car overnight or for a few hours to dry the air in th car out and it may fix the problem.

I took it out of the car yesterday, and brought into the house. It looks really dry and clean inside and out, but I'm leave it in the house with a dehumidifier for a couple of days to see if that helps at all.

Does anyone know where the guy on here got the new LCD display for his module. I did a search, but couldn't find where he actually bought it.

This gave me an excuse for finally doing the interior mods, so I took out most of the trim to get painted up to match the exterior

2 points...

1-try automotion for dry ice that you can put in the car, keep the windows shut and it basically sucks the moisture out...that may help more than your remedy and I believe it is only a few bucks.

2-Not sure on the LCD, but these full climate units are on ebay for 1-2 hundred dollars...may be worth a fresh one...which you can install easily yourself...
