Bilstein PSS9's...
Arling, maybe you can help with this - but if anyone has any insight, please respond.
How low can I go with the PSS9's? I've read some previous threads on the forums in regards to this - but I'm looking for experience from the C2 side... Would like to have my car slightly lower than a GT3 :) - will the PSS9's still have enough travel? I currently have Tech Art springs...sigh, my car is high. |
I may be wrong, but I thought the PSS9's can go down up to 3 inches from stock...I would say YES it can go lower than GT3, my car seems to be at GT3 height, or close to it, but I may go down another 1/2 inch, once I get a certain set of rims that is...

Thanks John...this is what is holding me back from getting the PSS9's. After seeing the pics from the Carlsbad run, my car looks like a Cayenne. Not to mention I don' t like the way it handles at speeds 100+...seems a little too wavy IMO.
I'd like to go with the PSS9's, but want to ensure that I can go slightly lower than a GT3 and still have enough travel to make the PSS9's functional. I've read a bunch about this on the forums, but nothing in regards to the C2 in particular. I'd be bummed to toss in a set of PSS9's and end up with the same ride height. There are a lot of factors that come into play, but I just feel that the GT3 sits perfectly (with 18's) - I have 19's so I'd want mine to sit slightly lower... |

Just got this info back from a new member who can't post (username= coaster) - this is great stuff, thanks Jim.
I would have responded to your post on 6speedonline but Shank hasn't I would have responded to your post on 6speedonline but Shank hasn't > gotten around to activating my account yet. > > I just put PSS-9's on my 2003 C2 Cab, went too low at first then > settled on the X74 suspension spec as a reference point. The X74 > suspension ride height is about as low as you can go (PSS-9 or > otherwise) and still be able to set the rear tire camber within > standard U.S. Carrera 2 specs. Right now the car is set at 25 5/8" at > all four corners as measured from the ground to the top of the fender > wheel arch. Using Porsche ride height measuring methods that's 123mm > in front and 127mm in rear -- both within X74 specs. Aesthetically, it's not the "slammed" > look you get at 25" but it's still a big improvement over the stock > height around 27". > > That ride height is only slightly higher than a GT3 (I'd say > imperceptible). Keep in mind though that the GT3 has different > suspension parts, so it's an apples and oranges comparison. > > You can go lower by replacing the upper links in the rear suspension > with adjustable links which would allow you to set the correct camber > in the rear. But... that's an additional expense of $1500 or so for 5/8" > lower. The other option is to run more negative camber in the rear, > but the least negative camber you can dial in on the stock eccentrics > with a 25" ride height is about 2°. That's great for the track but on > the street your rear tires would wear out in 3,000 miles (or so I've > been told). |
Albert....Solution....buy a GT3! hahaha
In fact, buy arlings! |
just look at my car and you won't think your car is high anymore.
|
Albert....Solution....buy a GT3! hahaha Hmm, part the entire car out and get a GT3....it's been a year now after all (for last 3 years, every year I've swapped to a new car LOL) But I actually like my car and it only has 10K miles on it :) Jeff if you're listening, come by my car this week before I end up thowing more money into it....and I just payed for registration as well! |
albert,
u can go lower than GT3 but that's not we recommended. just don't forget our install includes 2 alignments. u can always try it first. if u don't like it we'll re-align it. ;) |
I can attest to the greater wear on the inside running 2 degrees, forcing me to bring it back to 1.5r with 1f
|
I don't think with the x74 suspension you are supposed to be running standard alignment specifications. There is another set of specs out there that you should be running. I think its somewhat akin to the GT3 alignment. I remember having an official Porsche sheet that listed the differences.

Yes go to Arling...they did my PSS9 install and I have to say I am impressed...15K miles and the tire wear is perfectly even front and rear....

Okay Arling, I'd like it to be this low...:)
|
I am running pss9's not x74 and was running gt3 spec but had to take out some rear camber because fo the wear.
