Oil Pressure

I have a 2003 996 C2 with 22.5k miles. I just recently noticed that the oil pressure needle will "bounce" around sometimes. It's not a constant thing and its only for 1 or 2 seconds at a time. Under cruising load, highway speed, it never gets much below 4 but usually stays pretty close to 5 if not bouncing. At idle I'm around 2 or a little above. The bouncing is not throttle input related. No CEL. Has enough oil. Runs fine. I've just never noticed it before. Thoughts? Tell me if I'm paranoid, too.

Check the connections to the sender and if they are okay, it is usually a sign that the sender is starting to fail. Relatively easy and inexpensive fix.

Oil sender its around $60 bucks and you can change it yourself. There are plenty of write ups about it on this site, renntech, and rennlist. Just wait until it sets off a loud beep that says you lost pressure, then jumps right back on, it will scare the crap out of you No big though, keep the car long enough, you will get familiar with this part.

The oil pressure down here in texas is more variable than you'd expect!

Had the same problem in my old 996 C4S. It is most likely the sending unit as other said. No big deal to fix

Should I just get the part from my dealer or would there be a better source?
