Question Just got new rear tires but???????

Local discount tire store said they located the last Pilot Sports 285/30/18 in their system for my rear tires. Got them put on and everything is great right????

Well now, after 250 miles, i run my hand over them and they feel like sandpaper. Just rubbing my hand back and forth over them I get all these little rubber pieces(like sand grains) on my fingers. My fronts don't do this(but are 2yrs/15K miles old). Is this normal or did I get sold some defective/old shelf life tires??? Anyway to tell the age???

tia as always

can you take a pic?? and are you sure its just rubber coming off and not dirt and ****?? they might be defective, i would drive the car easy till you can get em checked out by a tire shop.

i could take a pic but the rear tires look fine - looks just like the front ones.

i don't think it's dirt/crap because nothing brushes off but only starts to crumble into little sand grains once i put just a little bit of force into it

somebody else said to give the tires a couple hundred more miles and see if anything changes so i guess that's all i can do for now

but it doesnt take a couple hundred miles to break in a tire. it takes like 20min worth of driving max. after that the tire should be fine, i really dont know what to say. i guess give it time but it seems odd.

Doesn't sound right. I'd swap these for another set.
