Am I correct about this, 99-01 exhaust tips and 02-04 exhaust tips have different angles of mounting which makes them not interchangeable between models pre and post 02?

 

I believe you're right. The tips themselves seem to have the same part numbers, but the exhaust system is different so I'm thinking they're not copatible.
