I bought one from Pelican Parts that was fitted perfectly (about $300). I used it for about 6 months then stopped because the clearcoat was getting scratched. If the car isn't immaculately clean, dust and dirt will cause tiny scratches every time you put it on or take it off. I finally cleaned out the garage and that's where my 996 sleeps every night.

If you intend to leave the car covered for extended periods of time, a cover is probably ok. If you intend to use your car three or more times per week, I would recommend not using a cover.

I have a factory Porsche outdoor cover I will be listing shortly for the NB models without tall wing. It's as fitted as they come. PM me if interested.

car cover should only be used if the car is spotless. dusting the car and wiping it down would be needed if it's not. if you use a cover, i'd recommend covering it daily (at home, at night etc.).

calif car cover and coverking make really good covers.

Don't forget Covercraft as another reputable company.
I like Noah fabric. Seems to give the most bang for the buck.
Not the cheapest but not the most expensive either.
