V1 Remote Mounting?

I plan on getting the V1 hardwired into a C2 coupe - what is the best place for the detector - driver or passenger visor? Or is there another place.

If I get the remote display, what is the best place for that? Does that automatically disable the main V1 display? Would I need the remote V1 speaker for audio alerts?

I have seen the remote positioned above the steering column - any other suggestions? I will also be driving in DC and would like to be able to have the remote in a place where it cannot be seen, or installed in a way that it can be removed and stored.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the V1 needs to have visibility to the front and rear to work most effectively. Per the manual, mounting it high makes it the most effective. I have it hardwired and mount it above and to the left of the rear view mirror, so that it has a good view to the front and to the rear. It's fairly unobtrusive when viewed from the outside.

If I were a regular driver in VA, DC or Canada, I'd probably spring for a "hidden" installation; wire up the remote display option in a lower position (say, on top of the steering column) and hide the box, perhaps on the dash but hidden in a box of tissues, say, with holes cut out for the laser detection. Not an ideal solution. Alternatively, you could just mount it in the "regular" spot, and be quick to pull it if need be.
