Once bitten.....

Last night my Avalanche was broken into on my driveway and they got some good stuff. Mainly my brand new Garmin street pilot as well as my xm radio ski fi, sunglasses.....
I've become very paraniod now and want to take any precaution to not have my wheels stolen from the (garaged) Porsche. I've got LoJack, but besides driving fast, is there any way to keep your wheels safe? Special lugs?

There's all kinds of security lugs, from locking lugs, to spline drive lugs, etc, but honestly, if a professional wants to steal your wheels, locking lug nuts will only briefly slow them down. They're mainly to deter punk kids.

I have a window and door company, when homeowners used to request the most high security, bulky door hardware, I'd kid with them saying, locks only keep the honest people out. But time and time again they would reply, true, but why not make it harder for them? I live by that rule right about now.
Keeping the joy riding teenagers looking for trouble away from my wheels is exactally what I want to do.

You could by 5 sets of 4 different style locking bolts. The criminals would really earn their pay that way.

Also, I have motion and door detectors in the garage tied to my house alarm. You may want to consider the same.

And, laugh if you want, but at Lowes they sell $12 fake video cameras that look real. Some even have battery powered LEDs. People always ask me where my video monitoring room is in the house...

I got a set of the Porsche wheel locks just days after putting on the HRE wheels. I couldn't tell you how scared I was to park anywhere without them. Now no problem, "bring it on"......
