Sticky ignition

Any of you guys experienced a sticky ignition switch?

I hopped in my car today to fid that my key was dificult to slide in and even harder to turn. After wiggling the wheel, the key turned but felts odd.

It was sticky feeling and when the car started, my A/C fan was not working until I wiggled the key again!!

Here is the most strange of all..... when i turned the key to the off position, the car turns off, but when i pull out the key...... the radio and everything stays on as if i never ejected the key.

I've read that replacing the switch will resolve this issue and located one locally for $9.00.... just wanted to make sure im on the right track with this DIY.

Thanks to all that reply.

Sounds like you're on the right track....9 bucks sounds about right also...actually on the cheaper side...just get ready to be on your back for a while...

Thanks GeeTee..

10 mintes to take it out... thanks to my 9 year old son.. he wants to be a Porsche Technician. His little hands and keen eye for mechanics are nothing short of amazing. all i have to do is give him a $5 bill.

Part is out and will grab a replacement in the morning.

Now that's a win-win. I had mine replaced at the dealer and you'd be shocked to see what they charged. Luckily it was covered by warranty.

Good job by your kid.
