Potential new owner. What does warranty cover?
I'm considering getting a new C4S and was wondering what Porsche covers for cars under warranties. My M3 is covered for scheduled maintance, brakes, windshield wipers etc. What does Porsche cover for warranties? Thanks in advance.
The Porsche warranty is a warranty in the traditional sense, not like BMW's which includes scheduled maintenance, and wear items like wipers and brakes, for the duration of the warranty.
I was shocked a few years ago when BMW replaced the all the brake pads, and the front brake rotors, under warranty!

It covers your butt. But only for EXACTLY 1460 days. One day over and you're screwed.
OK, so enjoy these first four years. But SELL IT before the end!
What? Questions? eric@bumperplugs.com
Yeah, I'm a bit pissed.

And don't let the dealer know if you track the car either, that's excluded for warranty coverage. Don't even think about modifying the engine with bolt on parts or chips, that will also void the warranty coverage on those parts and anything else they could possibly effect. Porsche doesn't have to prove that the aftermarket parts caused the problem, they can just infer it.
Many dealers will work with you on these kinds of issues but if they want to be pr#cks about it, they can. My dealer was and I lost warranty coverage because I had a piggyback chip added to the car.
