It's just the cans. The sound is amazing under WOT but quiet at cruising speed. Most of all it is inexpensive compared to all those mentioned. Check it out here: http://www.fdmotorsports.net/index_files/Page1456.htm. Best mod I ever did.

actually PSE style would be to use a U-bend or 90*degree bend to bypass only the last chamber of the muffler like so:

that's what i'm using and it sounds great. just a tiny bit louder than stock. no droning etc.

which is a tad louder than PSE style, but still little droning and sounds better than most aftermarket exhausts anyway.

does anyone have any idea what the quietest aftermarket exhaust is?

Have you actually seen a real PSE system? It looks like the Fisters and not like yours.

I love my Fister Sport Mufflers. I'm now considering adding some sport cats to crank up the volume just a tad...

Another vote for the Fister D's, love the sound and not very expensive.

I have a 2000 996 C2 and put on the M&K mufflers - 321 stainless steel - similar to the one's in the video in scubadawg's earlier reply (these were prototypes I believe). What a difference - really sounds great - I would say the video is right on the money.

The one in the photo is copy of the MK2 version for 996 3.6 and 997

Correct. There are mk1 and mk2 PSE systems but Fister elects to use the mk1 PSE style mod on both mk1 and mk2 cans. Fister still = PSE mod though
