Need to replace cats on my 02 C4S tiptronic and wanted to know what you guys recommend? Has factory exhaust. I've been looking through forums and hear talk about the drone but wasn't sure what to get? I'm just outside the warranty for years. Thanks for your input.

 

my empathy!! I had to replace one last year and found out I was out of warrantee (8 yrs, 80,000 mi) by 1 month and 1000 mi.
i found a stock one from a 6speeder who had replaced his with a 200 cell cat.
you can place and add here; maybe someone has one sitting around.
and, they are side specific.

Bummer that you're past the warranty! I had both of mine replaced just prior to 80K miles.

I haven't heard much about droning with sport cats - more with mufflers. I've actually been considering adding some to my system. I know you can get nice ones from FabSpeed or AWE.

 

Thanks for the input. I am considering the fabspeed or awe, read good things about both. Or i may try to find a used factory set if i can. Im fairly new to the p car, had it for about 1.5 years and love driving

I had to replace the cats on my 02 C2 which had a completely stock factory exhaust system. I went with the Fabspeed X-Pipe, and no other changes. I am very happy with that purchase. I would not hesitate to make the same purchase again.

It was half the price of the factory replacement. When I was pricing the cats at the dealership, even the mechanic said I should try to go aftermarket to save money.

There is a performance improvement, it looks much nicer, and it sounds better. The sound difference is not very noticeable. I notice it most just off idle, and when driving through indoor parking garages. Under normal driving conditions, there is no drone. I think most people wouldn't notice a difference in sound.

* You may be eligible for a small discount if you mention that you heard about it on 6speedonline (or are a member here). I didn't but I think I heard about something like that after I bought it. It's probably not much, but maybe it would offset the shipping. (I ordered it directly from Fabspeed.)

It will wake up the cars power and sound without affecting emissions or everyday driving.
