2004 C4s exhaust install? Wtf?

Ok , I finally got in my exhaust from fister( super excited) I jack up the car, take off the tires. Loosen all the fittings and bolts and then Bam! The two bolts that hold in the exhaust won't come out! They hit the heat shield! I don't get it? I read somewhere that I need to take out the taillights to get to the heatshield bolts. Wtf!!!! Am I missing something. I don't mind doing this myself but really. Should it be this hard? Should I just take it to be installed and if so where at around the Orlando/Tampa area would you recommend ? Thanks guys

Remove the muffler and the muffler bracket together--each bracket is held onto the muffler support (bolted to the engine) by 3 nuts (13 mm). Once you have the mufflers/brackets off, you can disconnect the brackets and move them to your Fisters.

When you do this you might consider reinstalling the two long bolts "upside down" so that the nuts are on top. This would faciliate future muffler removal. But it's so easy to just remove the muffler/bracket together this is a truly optional mod.

Pertaining to this mod, can the brackets that are bolted to the engine and hold mufflers, be removed? i tried removing mine from driver side and the frame wouldnt allow me to. I was looking for further weight reduction.

When removing the 3 13mm nuts you may feel the muffler still solid, dont be tricked, there's no need to unscrew anything else, just push the mufflers towards the wheels, to "unlock" it.

Sweet advice guys!!! Worked like a charm! This exhaust is sick!! The sound is just incredible and after I realized how to take off the old exhaust everything was easy . The only hard part is trying to get the exhaust tips aligned right. After I listened to your advice it took about 20 mins to take off. I also wanted to add that I did this by myself on my garage with a standard floor jack , so if anyone is thinking of doing this don't feel intimidated . Thanks Again and have a great day!
