Replacement bearings for serpentine belt pulleys?

It seems like I have a rough, noisy and slightly wobbly serpentine tensioner belt pulley. Call me resourceful (cheap), but I have a hard time paying $100+ for a new pulley when it's just the ($5) bearing in it that is bad.

Does anybody know of a part # for the bearing in the serpentine belt pulley(s)?

The master Porsche parts catalog does not show the bearings as separate parts--they're integral to the tensioner/deflection pulleys.

It may be possible for the bearings to be removed and replaced if one has a bearing press and the right jigs that fit the bearings and pulleys in question. I'm sure there are bearing retailers who can match the bearings (ID, OD, width, materials of construction) but you'd likely need to take measurements after the bearings are removed in order to get the right replacement parts. This means the car will be out of action for several days.

My $0.02--buy the replacement pulley(s), install them on your car, and then experiment with the old pulleys to see if you can indeed remove the bearings and source replacements. Let us know if you do this--it would be a useful addition to the forum's knowledge base.

By the way--replacement pulleys are priced around $80 from retailers like porscheoemparts.com or suncoastparts.com.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping that someone had already tried removing the bearings and ID'd them.

Does anybody have worn tension rollers laying around that they'd like to "donate to the cause"?
