Help burniing

I have a 99 911 cabriloet and yesterday I shifetr hard and fast to 6th speed when I was at idel the car smelled like burining oil. This am got in and had buring oil smell but drove it normally on highway past 90....any ideas?

See if you see any oil dripping when you first start the car and let it idle for awhile. If nothing leaks rev the motor a bit. If oil is shooting out around the headers then it is probably the spark plug tubes. Happened to me a few months ago,not to to hard to change.

Are you sure it is burning oil and not eau-de-911? If my car doesn't have that burning cosmoline smell when I park then I know I didn't drive her hard enough

Probably the cosmoline, I get it when I drive hard as well. Unless it persists after a day of normal driving I wouldn't worry too much. Check for leaks and if none, should be good.

Same here, smells like hot rubber when parked after a decent drive.

Good to know this is normal.... I always worried this was something additional to worry about... time to search on cosmoline I guess.
