Battery draining when car is parked
Hey guys, wanted some input on a battery issue I'm having. It appears that while my car sits, something is drawing a steady 3 amps off the battery. Any ideas? I know the 996 has issues with keeping a charge but is this normal?
Amps
What did you try to measure and where did you put the meter?? Your car should only consume a fraction of that when parked but perhaps you looked at the wrong dial increments. They are very busy to read sometimes.
If it was drawing 3 amps, it wouldn't start if you parked it overnight. Having said that, these cars are pigs when they are turned off. I've started charging the battery once a week just to make sure the battery stays in top shape.
That's the problem - it's dying overnight. It's not equipped with Lojack or Boomerang. The previous owner had installed a battery tender which is hardwired into the battery harness which I'm wondering if it could be the culprit.
I'm measuring from the battery posts when the car is off. I'm out of ideas.....
