Would you say this is a normal voltage range?

Would you say this is a normal voltage range?

Hey, brand new to the forum. Super happy that there are others out there with immense knowledge on the 996's. Thank you for all your help in advance.

I've had my car about 2 weeks and its a bit sluggish during start up. It fairs better at start up if i don't run a lot power during the previous drive. Im not sure if this has anything to do with it but the volts are running well below 14.4 (which is what i knew to be proper voltage previously).

Is this proper range for a 996 or would you suggest pulling off the alternator and having it tested?

Most cars don't idle at 14.4V, they will idle lower (often times significantly lower), and will return to a more normal 14.4V around a normal cruising rpm (typically 1500-2000 rpm).

I would check to make sure the battery voltage is right, and what the voltage is once the alternator has had a chance to spin up completely. I can't offer you any model specific input sadly.

Good luck.

Looks normal. You can have the battery tested for load (amp draw).

I would have the battery tested before diving into the alternator, regulator, starter, or corroded wiring.

My 99 996 C2 fluctuates between the 13.75 - 14.0 voltage range. It seems to be perfectly normal.

Thanks guys. Its nice to know Im not the only one and that this seems to be the norm.

Sounds like I need to start with the battery and go from there. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
