Over the past month, my ignition key was getting harder, and harder to turn. Last night, I had to yank on it to get it out. So, I ordered a new ignition switch from Pelican Parts. It should arrive soon. This morning, I decided to do an oil change. I jumped in to my P-car to position it on my driveway, and my key would not go into the ignition switch. The key hole is completely closed. I am hoping this is not due to more than the failed ignition switch. Your thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

 

Some years ago I had the same problem on my 2002 C4. Porsche replaced ignition switch under warranty and it was fine thereafter. I remember they told me some 996s had that problem but just replacing the switch solved the problem.

Plan on spending 120 minutes if you're an old fart like me. The two microscopic screw are a ***** to get to; let alone able to see. One item which heavily contributed to my success was a bright light. It's dark up in there.
