Thumbs up Cross Post- A Perfect Track Weekend!

If you have not tracked your Porsche you have no idea what your missing! I had the best time of my life, My father did too. We tracked our cars all weekend at Moroso Motorsports Park. The guys at Foreign Affairs hooked us up bigtime, by letting us hang at their Porsche Coral and trailer. They had a great group of mechanics and techs on hand to check our cars over as the day went on. We started Saturday morning in an hour of class with one of the instructors from the Panoz Racing School. Then they brought us out on the skid pad for about 3 hours. It was like extreme autocrossing, practicing turns, Braking and Reaction time. Within an hour we were partnered up with an instructor of our own. My guy "Ed" was great, A real racing inthusiast. Lets just say I thought I was a good driver untill I got out on the track with him in his E36 M3 (He has a first gen M3 racecar too). "Holy **** is all I could say after my first few laps around the track at speed". When my turn came around to drive it was easy to see how many driving habits I had formed through out the years such as turning in early and never getting the oppurtunity to push my car near its limits. It is amazing how many G's these cars can pull. The Ferrari was really pulling hard in the Straights, but if I took the correct line and powered though a turn correctly I was on its ***. My instructor showed me alot! and I ended up doing probably around 20 laps in the two days I was there. On the final day I pleased me when my instructor told me that I had everything "down" and I was "out driving" what my tires were capable of doing. Finishing out my second to last lap with a four wheel drift, And 130Mph on the straightaway I could on go on about this forever but I will post some in car footage soon.
If you guys have any questions about PBOC or tracking your 996 fire away. The next event is at Homestead Miami in December then Sebring in January. I am signing up for both!

Next step for me is a set of track tires and wheels. Then GT3 seats, Sways, Gut the interior, Roll cage, Fuel cell LOL just kidding.
A track car would be nice.

Special thanks to Bob at Foreign Affairs. Great Guy.
My instructor "Ed" and Duane B for lending me his Camera Mount.

I knew you'd love it. It's become all I care about with my car almost.
I know you were joking about all the track mods, but in seriousness you'll want to get more seat time to truly learn how to drive your car in stock setup before you go making it 'faster' or 'stickier'.

Homestead Drivers Ed. & Club Races

I hope you and your Dad signed up for the Homestead Drivers Ed. already. Just got a call from the registrar and it’s sold out. They started a waiting list today. Also the place to stay down there is the Hampton Inn 1-305-247-8833 there on US1 about 2 miles from the track.

Sounds like you had a great time at Moroso. There is nothing like a track event to remind you of what the 996 is really capable of. Make sure you get signed up for the Sebring event, that track is really in a class of its own with over 17 turns to learn. I will second Scott's suggestion to get more experience before swapping to DOT slicks and upgrading suspension... it will make you a far better driver in the long run.
