Porsche 996 Carrera Gets Forced Into 100 Horsepower

Over a year ago we started prototyping on our Porsche 996 Carrera Turbo upgrades. Since completion, we have put these on a handful of cars and even some 997 Carrera models as well. This customers 2001 3.4L was in need of some more power and a engine refresher. With the engine seized up, he had the car shipped down from Idaho to our Arizona facility. Here we did a full rebuild of the 3.4L engine, broke it in, and then added some boost. Our 996CT kit features an air to air intercooler, Turbosmart wastegate and boost controller, equal length header and muffler pipes, and carbon fiber work. All of our previous kits we have used the Precision Turbo 6062. However for this car we tried out a Garrett GT35R with a .82ar using the Tial V-Band housing. The Garrett based turbo is more linear in how it boosts compared to the Precision. The power does not hit as hard so it gives it more of a supercharger like feel. Running the engine at a safe 5.5psi, the driveability through the gears is comfortable and the car roars when the wastegate opens. Comparatively, they make the same 100HP gain between each turbo. The final factor of course is the tuning. With months of testing, Vivid Racing have developed maps that retain the factory MAF setup and give the car proper idle, partial throttle, and wide open throttle. Having developed the kit on the 996C4s platform, the only downfall with the C2 and C4 is the turbo kit hanging lower then the stock bumper. To get the equal length and well balanced system, this was the optimal position for the parts. The good thing is any aftermarket Turbo style bumper will hide these right up. Awesome results... Rush that rear bumper. Going over speed bumps might now prove to be a challenge.

You purchase a Turbo style rear bumper from us made by Precision Porsche for about $1000 if you wanted.

The Turbo kit retails for $8995. We can negotiate a special price and install for serious parties.
