opinion on a CF hood??

Hey fellas, I'm thinking about getting a CF hood for my ride, what do you guys think? I've had that done before on a S2000 and it looked pretty cool just not sure about it on a speed yellow Porsche....... Humm????

I thought about doing this on my black car but just decided in the end, all factors considered that it is probably something that was cool back in the early 2000-2005 era, and really only on Japanese cars.

What I would say, is that you should get a CF hood and paint it yellow, and maybe just be able to open it up and show poeple the CF weave on inside.

My uncle once had a yellow 996 GT3 and he put carbon fibre doors on it....you wouldnt have had a clue that they were carbon until you opened them and then it was like "wow".

I think a CF hood on a yellow 911 will probably look a bit too ricer all in all. At the end of the day though do whatever pleases you - I am sure it will look good...just not my style.

A yellow 911 w/ black CF hood would probably look great. You're the only one you have to impress. My concern is that I've seen too many that didn't fit perfectly. It would have to be a perfect fit, then it would be okay. There's just no good reason for it. The weight savings won't help anything so you could have it matte or CF wrapped for a lot cheaper and get the same effect. Again, your hood.

I think it depends which hood you're going to buy, and what your reasons are for buying it. If it's purely for looks I would suggest spending the money on making the car faster. If it's for weight loss I would encourage it. When you start computing weight loss down to $ per pound, a carbon fiber hood is one of the best mods for weight loss.

Good option for weight loss, although getting rid of unnecessary stuff in the car would be cheaper.
If its for looks, well, not a friend of leaving body parts unpainted. Just looks like you ran out of money after buying it and couldn't afford to paint it. But that's just my taste, yours might be different.

Yeah I was thinking it may not be such a good idea. I've only seen like one yellow 996 with that hood on it online and can't really tell if it looks good of not. I wish I can see one in person to make judgement. I'm only doing it for looks as I believe weight is not gonna be that much different. As far as making it go faster, to truely get real power and speed out of a C2 would be force induction and looking into that would cost 7-10 thousand. For what the car is worth it might be better to trade up for a TT if one can afford to do so. I've already reflash the ECM and got good results out of it FOR WHAT IT IS. The wife thinks I'm nuts, she thinks I'll rice out the Porsche it just don't look right!! DAMN IT the women might have a point this time...........Humm..........also looking to replace the exhaust tips found some really cool dual black chrome ones on ebay.....oh why can't I just leave the damn thing alone???
