Get a V1 for the absolute best radar/laser detector and the Blinder M20 for laser jamming.

Go here for everything you could ever want to know about radar/laser detector and jammers.

Go here to purchase all of these products except for the V1:

There is a radar jammer that works and it is called the Scorpion Ka radar jammer.

Before buying my C2, I had a BMW 540 with the Passport SR1 installed. This is a prior version of the SR7/SRX and did not have the laser diffuser. It worked great, but cost $1,500 (installed). After much consideration, I recently had a V1 hard wired in my car, and it does perform better than the Passport and is much less expensive. This past weekend I drove 16 hours, Dallas to Missouri and back, and the V1 was awesome. I never would have believed it, but the arrows WILL save your ***. Listen to the majority: ARROWS, ARROWS, ARROWS....

Whoah, that scorpion radar jammer sounds very interesting, but the website somehow doesn't inspire much confidence in me... especially if they expect me to send someone $1500!

While running fairly quickly on Highways 75,69,44, and 65, I was always able to tell by the lit arrows where the radar signal was coming from: front or rear. I did have one occasion where I received a rear radar warning only to see a car rapidly approaching with one of our country's finest behind him.

Get the V1 and check this video to understand the ARROWS!

This is why the V1 beats every radar detector out there.

I think it's universally agreed that the V1 is the best radar detector. In my view, its only drawback is that it cannot be stealth mounted without spending over $2k for a custom remote mount installation. Also, it does nothing for laser, for which you need a radar jammer.

If you're comfortable leaving your V1 out in the open, then get one and have it hard wired by a car stereo installer. If you want something hidden, get a K-40 or one of the Escort remote mount systems. I have the K-40 in 3 cars, and I find it to be adequate against all but instant-on radar, but I'm not sure anything will save you from properly used instant-on. The installed cost of the K40 4 years ago was $650.

For laser, you need to get a laser jammer. I have a 5-year old Laser Echo by Lidatek and it saved me twice. The installed cost of the Laser Echo 4 years ago was $350.

Thanks. Does the laser defuser protect you from the instant-on? I've been calling around the DC metro area for the k-40 and everyone's price is somewhere around $1600 - $1700. I think these guys have bumped their got-darn heads. "What kind of car did you say you have sir??? Oh yeah, that'll be between 16 and 17 hundred." WHAT!!! "Yeah, the porsches take longer and you really want to make sure it's done right." (In other words, you've got a porsche, you must have some dough;-(

That price should be for the k-40, jammer and install. Sounds about right.

All laser is instant-on, and yes it does protect you from that, at least according to tests and my personal experience (twice). The new ones are most likely even better.

Note that my K-40 is front only. If you want front and rear, double my $650 price and you have $1300. You CAN get your speed clocked by a cop coming up behind you with radar, so I guess I'm taking a bit of a chance. But, that's also what a rear-view mirror is for.
