Which CAI
Its a race motor! And I would agree with you at 6000+ RPM. But not many daily driving street cars are cruising around at the RPM range.

plus your comparing 4.0 vs 3.4 or 3.6.
The gains on the larger motor are obviously going too be more.
K&N has their own dyno, they run the car with and with out the CAI installed and the number they claim is what they say they made.
Now we all know the number will change depending on type of dyno, mods done to the car, outside air temps, even a fresh tune-up affect the results.
Their Dyno sheet they provide claims no other mods on the car.
Fabspeed claim different results for their CAI and the other companies out there all claim an increase in power.
Now are these companies who some are venders on this site lying or misleading us.
I highly doubt that they would put their reputation on the line.
I have a K&N intake and test pipes on my car, and have also run the car with an exhaust bypass system. Have I dyno'd the car no. I definitely feel the loss of the low end torque due to the lack of back pressure but above 4500 rpm the car seems to come alive.
Do I know that it's making more power.....no but I also don't know that it's not making more either.
There are tons of reasons why Manufactures don't put CAI on their cars from the factories, noise being a big one. Most consumers don't care about or want to hear a CAI every time they drive the car. emissions being another one. we all know they help the car burn cleaner but the State Governments don't want any changes to the emissions system.
Now these same Manufactures all sell a CAI system also, Nismo, TRD, Porsche just being a few. Now would they do this if there wasn't a performance difference? Would they waste their time developing a system that does nothing? I highly doubt it.
Just my 2 cents
I don't know what could be quantitatively proven as "best". I can, however, state which looks better......Joe (traderjoe) and I have the same intake and I CAN say that it is - by far - the best looking and probably at least as beneficial as any other.
Where can I get one of those dual intakes? Looks great! Thanks for all the info guys!anyone know where I can get the factory owners manuals? Just had the car delivered last night and it turns out it doesn't have them. Now I don't know what weight oil to get.
Check thoroughly for the manuals. I have found them all over. Under the steering column, in the door pockets, even in the spare tire cover.
Intakes ate available fron London. Search the 996 sub-forum under dual intakes and we,ve written this up completely. EuroCupGt has them.
