996 Needs a New Clutch

Hi Guys,

I was driving a 5th gear and tried to shift to the 6th, and it didn't engage. I stopped the car and tried a few times before I can put it in the 1st gear. Is it time for a new clutch? My only has 48K miles. Do you know how much to get a new clutch? Thank you all for all the advices

It could be but I would have it properly diagnosed before deciding whether you need a clutch, fluid change, adjustment.... Cost will vary with your area and mechanic/dealer.

Seems like it. In SoCal it is going to cost between $1400 to $1900.

Sounds like a clutch adjustment to me. FYI, having driven sticks for the past 40 years, I always go to 2nd gear before 1st gear. Makes for a smoother 1 gear engagement. Good luck.
