Front compartment courtesy light switch???

Hi guys. When I got the 911 4 days ago, before my sound setup install and AC repair, the courtesy light inside the front compartment was still working. After the sound setup and all, this light suddenly stopped lighting up

Did a few tests and found out that: 1 - the bulb is not busted, 2 - there is constant POSITIVE electric current coming from one of the 2 wires, 3 - I checked the fusebox under the driver's side dash and found out that the compartment light does not have a fuse assigned to it.

Found the microswitch which is built in the hood latch mechanism in front. Unfortunately I don't think this is the culprit. I left the hood up and locked the doors using the remote. The alarm did not sound immediately but after about 10 minutes, the alarm went off and woke up the neighbours :-( While the horn was blasting away, I noticed the the compartment light WAS STILL OFF. So I guess the hood latch microswitch is for the alarm system and it works - right?
