Angry oops...

My husband was backing into a driveway and he dented and scratched (about 8 inches worth) our 04 996 Cab. The dent is on the passenger side right behind the wheel right smack in the middle.

Anyhow, I have to go to the dealer for my yearly service check so I was going to have them fix it while I was there.

My questions are:

1. Should I get the body work done at the dealer OR does anyone have any recommendations in the NYC area?
2. What will the work entail? A new bumper, a pop and paint?
3. What should I expect to pay?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If it's just down in the poly-u bumper (not up in the metal) it's relatively easy repair..........the bumper is eaily removed and can be worked on seperately........depending on severity of damage, that material can be filled, painted, cleared. With-out a pic it's tough to say........but 8 inches & minor should be under $1000.

Dealerships with 'very good' bodyshops are the exception to the rule, often are not even at the same location as the dealership, so really no relation to your annual service.......choose carefully.

Your main concern will be good color match.......where-ever you take it, you might consider having them give you a call after it's been painted, so you can 'pop by' to have a look-see on the color (before they go through the time of re-install).

Good luck........and I can relate.
My wife once backed out of the garage in one of our 911s....right into another......both went to shop.......and last week she was T-boned in our C4 cab (by a driver with no license, no insurance, driving someone elses car.......who, of course, also had no insurance).

WOW! Talk about some bad luck!

Actually, the dealer's body shop ISN'T in the same location as their service center. They are both in NJ (Parsippany) so I figured I could drop it off at the service center and have it serviced and then they can bring it to their body shop. I wanted to get it all done at once since they are in NJ and I am in Bklyn. It's a pain in the *** to drive there (especially in rush hour traffic).

Thanks for the info.
