Car back from the plastic surgeon

..And I am pissed!

For those who don't remember I had a close encounter with a curb in a u-turn entered with a lil too much zeal.

The good news, the paint looks great. Color match is flawless. I had the hood and rear bumper also painted to erase the 60k miles that were starting to show. I had the bumperettes color matched too.

The pisser: My interior looks like old man Sanford used it to store dirty car parts. The driver's seat side bolster is filthy, the steering wheel is filthy, the fuse panel has foot prints, the door seal is scratch up... it just goes on and on...

Then it gets worse... I got the car up on the expressway to "verifiy the alignment" at speed, exited and pulled into my work parking lot. A loud hissing sound was coming from under the car. No visible leaks though. Popped the trunk and hood looking for sources as I wasn't about to get on the ground in slacks. The next surprise? The battery cover was off and the battery terminals were visualy loose. ...easily moved by hand. ...roll forward to a post body shop call, I get in the car to head home after a frustrating day. It's 97 degrees, 95+% humidity (New Orleans, La) , and the hissing sound reveals itself. No A/C. One of the things delaying the return of the car was a backordered A/C line. Guess they botch the install.

..So much for having my baby back for the 4th of July weekend!

rant over...

did they just forget to charge the A/C? If so, that should only take about half an hour??

The A/C was charged and working fine when i picked up the car. The hissing sound (I assume) was the freon coming out.

Looked uder the car this morning. Found the two (one each corner) pie shaped plastic panels under the front bumber are missing. Also noticed what looked like a big clump of dirt painted over next to the license plate.

They say I should have the car back this evening depending on if a part needs to be ordered for the A/C. They'll order the pie shaped panels and I'll get those later.

Joy.

Where did you find this shop? Usually dealer's recommended shops are top notch.
