Drifffting in the snow :D
Drifffting in the snow :D
I just got my car back two weeks ago (from the body shop after an accident at the track back in august)...
At first i was dissapointed since i knew i wouldnt be able to drive the car on dry roads for very long...
fast forward to last friday night, a crapload of snow got dumped in south western ontario friday night..

So i decided to hit up a local empty parking lot (with a subie STI) with traction off and drift around

The subie had such a hard time trying to lose traction lol. he had to literally go 50km/h (35-40 mph for you americans) and yank the handbrake harrd to slide.
We ended up getting kicked out of one parking lot, so we went to a summer-time only farmers market with stalls still set up.
Slid around booths and crates like it was a full drift course.. ended up getting salted out by management (they were too shy to approach us, so they just hopped in a salt truck and started laying down salt everwhere lol)
More pics and maybe a video to come as more snow falls on us.

Parking lots with fresh snow/ice and/or wet leaves can sub for a quick skid pad training session, improving your emergency recovery skills to avoid what happened earlier this year. Just make sure the parking lot is empty of people and cars and that the snow isn't obscuring more discreet hazards like curbing and concrete parking stops or it could make for another tow and more repairs! Looks like fun!
