Squeaky hardtop on cabriolet

I just put a hardtop on my cab for the winter, and it "squeaks" way too much. I think it isn't mounting tight enough. Is there a way to adjust the front pull clamp, or the back posts? Or is there another way to quiet the squeaking? TIA for any suggestions.

They squeek to some extent until they settle in a bit, especially when it's colder. It also helps to treat the rubber on the wind screen with Gummiflege or other rubber treatment before installing the top. Finally, the mounting screws on a 997 should be torqued to 34 inch pounds. I don't know what the mounting torques, if any, are for a 996, since the mounting hardware is different on some 996's if they have camloc style instead of the newer bolt style system.

Hope this helps.

Try unlocking it, repositioning it, and locking it again. Not necessary to remove it completely. This has worked for me in the past. You didn't specify which year or which mount type, but on the earlier models make sure you turn the tool until you feel a click. Others recommend some kind of lubricant on the rubber seals, do a search.
