anybody see a problem using the phone plug as a ground for my valentine?
hard wiring the v1 today. i going to run the switched wire on the phone plug under the storage trays for my power. i was thinking about using the ground in that same plug for my v1 ground. anybody see a problem with that. i would prefer to use the big 10mm bolts in there for a ground location, but i can't get the carpeted side covers off to get at them (bose sub on the pass side). there is another small screw in there, but not sure what kind of a ground it would be. open to suggestions?
I couldn't find any butt connectors so I got the driver's side panel off and used that 10mm bolt back there for the ground. Works perfect. When I get some connects, I may use that ground point for my ipod.
You use the plug as a power source for the V-1. Strip about .5" insulation off the V-1 power cord, fold it double and insert it into the socket that corresponds with the green/black wire in the plugt. That is the switched power source. Wrap electrical tape around the plug to hold the power wire in place. Find a screw that is attached to some metal framework in the console and use that as your ground.
Just dont exceed 10 amp as that is the fuse which also is linked to the vapor evacuation vent. If it blows the fuse you cannot fill your gas tank. I had that happen to me when the wiring harness for the cell accidently grounded. Will
