Instrument Dial Mod

Hi fellas, I'm considering changing out my instrument dials:

http://nrauto.com/gaugesdetails.php?...=MQ==&mi=&mn=#

a few questions to those who have done this to their 996:

1. Is it a DIY job ?
2. Has anyone bought dials from NRauto ? if so, can you comment on the quality and fit of the product.
3. Are there other (maybe better) places to buy aftermarket instrument dials ?
4. Anything else I should watch out for ?

thanks.

There were some issues before if you search Rennlist IIRC but I'm not sure if these have been ironed out by now.

The only other risk is removing your needles and not damaging them in any way. Also making sure you align them when you put them back.

I've tried the Vinyl overlay route to avoid having to remove the needles but I found their quality to be lacking(the cuts weren't that crisp around certain numbers). YMMV

I've since bought some other dials but have yet to install them.

(1) I have doen this (in white) and it is (or could be) a DIY providing you are comfortable with this kind of work.

(2) The ones I got from NRauto were great. Fit perfect and looked great.

(3) Maybe, but I believe they are the primary manufacturer as there gauge face plates are sold by other shops.

(4) It is a meticulous job and takes time especially when removing and reinstalling the needles. Having someone assist you is also very helpful. Again, I would only do this if you are mechanically inclined and comfortable doing so.

No, I have not noticed any "light bleed" at night. I am very impressed with the quality of this product. Unfortunately, I do not believe they make white ones for the MK1 any more...
