My C4S Modding Progress Report
 

I picked up this used 2003 CS4 in good condition from my friend’s uncle back in November. The car was rarely driven by him anymore so it has been mostly sitting in his garage this past year. After an initial good cleaning and polishing, my modding of the C4S began thanks all the help from this board.

I love Seal Grey exterior but am not a big fan of the dull and boring light Graphite Grey leather interior. So I removed multiple interior trim pieces and painted them with matching Seal Grey paint to give the interior a bit more contrast. Some of the pieces were really a pain to remove but I think the overall result was well worth the effort. I also installed some aluminum pedals.

I missed bluetooth in the car so I decided to install a new stereo system. I changed out my PCM2 nav unit to a Kenwood DNX9990HD. Since I have 03 with MOST fiber optics, i had to replace the Bose amp as well. I mounted in the trunk an old Phoenix Gold amp that I had sitting around from a previous car.

I wanted to keep the car as stock looking as possible in order to avoid attracting attention from potential stereo thieves. I decided to make a "faux" OEM stereo faceplate cover to hide the Kenwood unit. The best way would certainly to cut up an OEM unit and make a faceplate out of it, but I couldn't find a cheap donor unit after a few month of searching. I used a bracket supplied with one of my old double din units and glued a printed photo of my PCM unit. This faceplate attaches to the Eurospeed kit via strong neodymium magnets glued at each corner. The cover attaches and detaches easily. I think the cover should pass in poor lighting conditions (e.g. dark parking garages) but I probably have to play around with the photo printing to achieve a more realistic look.

I was able to pick up a set of 19 inch HRE 545R’s with polished centers. I know the car is riding too high now but I am still debating whether to get coils because my driveway is quite low. I plan to paint the centers to a matte gunmetal color.

The exhaust note was too quiet so I changed to Fabspeed Maxflo with quad exhaust tips. The volume is just right for me now but my neighbors hate me when I leave early in the morning :)

Changed out the front turn signal bulbs to Philips Silvervisions to get rid of the egg yolk effect. I opted not to use the LED here for a cleaner look. I also changed the city light to white LED bulbs to match the HIDs. I love how the Litronic headlamp looked now. I also changed the side marker and rear turn signal to LED lights.

Changed all the interior lights to SMD LED bulbs. This is by far one of the most cost effective mods that really transformed the interior of the car, esp. at nightime.

Light Graphite Grey leather interior is very nice with carbon fiber interior parts.... very good contrast !!!!

Seeing your double din installed makes me feel the need to go back in and re-adjust my surround trim. I have never been able to get mine to sit in flush like yours.Looks great!

Thanks, I had to drill new holes in the brackets in order to get the flush appearance. The pre-drilled holes for some reason were not for Kenwoods.
