How do you replace the Front Hood Dampers / Shocks?

My front hood won't stay up on its own anymore when unloading anything from the cargo area. I have bought the official 2 porsche dampers to replace, and it seems like a quick fix.

Anyone actually do this? What tools do you use to get the old one off and snap the new ones back in?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

tarzancoe is infamous around these parts
Take a close look and you´ll see that they have thin washers that keep them in place. The kind that are like a "u", open on one side. Then you can pull them out with a screwdriver or some pin, and/or thin pliers. At that point the joint ball comes out. Replace with new shocks and replace washers. That's all.

That's a perfect explanation of it, its very simple DIY. Just make sure not to pry the U shaped pin too much, I've had them bend sometimes if your not careful. You can usually bend them back with out a problem though.

It's a very simple and quick DIY, and it makes a big difference. I changed my gasdruckfeders last year after getting "bonked" on the head one too many times. I used a small, flat screwdriver to remove the old ones as tarzancoe describes above.

Just did this on my engine bay. Very easy, took about 30 seconds to complete.

If you can return your new parts I have a set of used pistons just sitting in garage for cheap.
