Searching For 911
Regarding a new 2014 Mustang and a 2003 Porsche - the technology and comfort may play into it as well.
The newer Fords have VERY decent build quality and technology compared to an 11 year old car. Regarding the Mustang GT Premium w/Track Pack, bumper to bumper warranty, excellent performance - I'd suggest far superior to the base 996 C2, with conveniences that make for a very livable car for the everyday drive, with torque to pass just about everything. Very hard to find counterpoints. It comes down to your preference - an older car that is still fun today (but may have a concern or two regarding maintenance), or a new car with almost twice the power, new technology, and handles just as good (if not better, regarding the track pack), full warranty, etc...

These are very good points. So at the end of the day the Mustang is faster and I think would handle about the same with Track pack. I guess the question comes down to do I want to drive a car you do not see every day as much or a run of the mill Mustang. This is literally killing me making this decision J.

Get the one that's going to put a smile on your face when you drive it, and not just the first couple of times, everytime, in 1,2,3 years from now are you going to still smile when your behind the wheel?

If you want to enjoy a car now for the next month or year, possibly two - get the Mustang, you may be completely blown away by how well it performs, easy to live with, etc...
The fact that you are contemplating a car that is 11 years old tells me you may enjoy it for the next 11 years.
I've owned lots of cars in my life. I've owned sedans, sports cars, SUVs and vans. The two cars that I've enjoyed the most are the two least practical cars. As impractical as they are, they are the cars that evoked the most emotion in me. They are the cars that made me smile every time I drove them. They are the cars that connected with me in a way that made me overlook crazy things like small or non-existant back seats, outdated electronics, etc.
If you buy a car based on facts and figures and take emotion out of it, then it's hard to justify a Porsche. If you let your heart guide you, then it's hard not to buy a Porsche.
Only you can decide what is right for you...

- 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce

Well guys I went and looked at the 911. As soon as he opened the airport hanger it was sold. I can always get a Mustang. This is a one owner 2003 and has 21k on it. It looks brand new. I can get the 4/48 bumper to bumper through my local Porsche dealer for $2,800 which I am doing.

Granted a new mustang is a really really nice car, however perhaps you need to step up the model 911 you are looking at. Maybe a c4s cabriolet. A beautiful work of art. And believe me the speed thing is not going to be that big of a difference. Something about a Porsche just entrances you and makes you want to drive it everyday. The Mustang, a great car just is NOT the same....

I remember when I was 16 and the 996 came out. I remember thinking, why would anyone pay $80 grand for a car no faster (0-60 - hey, I was 16) than a Camaro Z28 or SS/Trans Am that costs less than half.
My good friend and fellow car geek got a Trans Am a year or two later and thought it was amazing.
Fast forward to 2010, we both test drove 996's without the other knowing, mine a '99 C2, he an '02 Turbo. Neither of us had been particularly big on Porsche's before, but always respected them. We both had "OH!" moment and bought those cars.

Thank you guys for the opinions. Once I saw it I had to have it. I have owned AMG, M5 and M3 and the 911 has always been something I wanted. I am happy with decision. Go figure it snows here today so I pick it up tomorrow. I will get more pics up.
I have seen some 911's that a wing comes up in the back I think at a certain speed. Is this the case on the 2003 C2 I bought? I did not notice while I was driving it

The rear spoiler is activated automatically at 120 kmh (~76 mph) and it retracts automatically at 60 kmh (~37 mph). There's also a switch to manually activate it if necessary.
