Rear Driver Side Taillight ?

Opened the housing up and inside was a looped cable. What does this pertain to? Thx for replies.

that's the emergency deck lid release cable.....there's another loop cable upfront for the hood as well

If its for the deck lid, and the car is locked then you cant get to the bolt in the engine compartment to access the cable what use is it?

I think the intent is to open the decklid from outside the car. If I understand correctly, you can pull out part of the rear bumper cover (near the back side of the wheel). This will reveal part of the cable which you pull out the slack to release the latch.
