Opinions on towing hook

Hey guys,

I recently had my car towed and when the truck got to me, I realized I didn't have the towing hook in my toolkit. The driver told me that there are some differences of opinion on using the towing hooks anyways, because you're pulling on the front bumper and also the hook is not even centered, so it's putting a weird strain on the front of the car as it's pulled up onto the flat bed.

What are your opinions on using the towing hook versus latching onto somewhere underneath the car? Is it worth me purchasing a new towing hook for future needs?

Thanks,

Swaff

My understanding is that using the tow hook is the ONLY safe way to pull your Porsche onto a flatbed. I've read horror stories where tow truck drivers hooked underneath and caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. Get a tow hook. They're not expensive.

The toe hook is not really attached to the bumper as it looks. There is/should be a receiver inside which the hook screws into which is secure, Porsche put the tow hook on for a reason, use it. IMO I would not let anyone hook anything to the underside of my car, and when securing the car would insist on tow wheel straps.

Don't ever let them hook onto anything under the car. I found out the hard way after the hooks were placed on both front control arms.
Both lower CA's were bent to the point where visually you could see the bends once the car was up on a rack.
