Finally have a 911

Today I picked up my 1999 Carrera 4 convertible. Drove her home 300 miles and was pretty much perfect. The only thing I dislike is the steering wheel adjustment which doesn't go up or down and as im tall means I cant see the top of the dials. A few interior rattles which im going to look at today and 3 small stone chips is really all I can find wrong. It has 68k on it with full dealer history having 9 stamps. Just had New rear exhaust, New tyres, Couple of new arms and all the brake pipes replaced for its mot. Going to get the engine oil changed along with the gearbox and front diff. The car has only done 3k since last oil change but that was almost 3 years ago.

Hi,
Thanks guys, I just finished an interior inspection and I found a couple of loose trims in the seats, Also 2 x door clips were not seated which has solved those rattles, Seems ok now but time to try it with the hood up as the biggest rattle seemed to be from the back although I did notice both screws that hold the panel behind the rear seats in place were missing, fitted new ones so will drive later and get back to you. Also fitted new air filter and the engine bay is immaculate and bone dry. Cleaned MAF, Cleaned out front grille where radiators are as these were full of crap. Lubricated all interior plastics and leather. Also managed to shift my steering wheel which was very stiff and can pretty much see the dials now. Fixed wobbly mirror. Fixed slight gap where wind was getting in when hood is up. Polished exhaust tips. Garage next week for full fluid change (oily stuff). Then im going for a touch screen nav installation. Happy days......

Rattle in the back I'd check the 4 O2 sensors. If you have an aftermarket system the O2 sensors might not have been fully tightened. It happened to me before.

Hi,
The rattle was 2 bits of the hood(guides perhaps) rubbing together. Put a little bit of lube on it and it has gone.
cheers

Hi guys,

Just a little update after 6 weeks of ownership. I solved all my rates eventually mostly with a little krytox on touching parts. Had my oil changed with Fuchs titan race pro 5W-40. Fixed passenger seat issue. Full valet and waxed every week. I have put 1500 miles on her which was more than the last year and she hasn't missed a beat, Meant to be weekend car but cant help myself. Going to do the spoiler button in dash upgrade as soon as it arrives. Coilovers within next few months as I feel the suspension although working ok is 14 years old. New bigger tailpipes soon. Maybe some sideskirts aswell. One thing im not sure about is that I have jumped in and bought a double din touchscreen unit, Its not Pioneer or anything like that but still cost decent money, I have no problem shifting the climate unit and have all the facias required to do the job but im not too sure how easy the stereo wiring is going to be. I have searched lots and some of it is baffling me. How hard is this? Anyway thanks guys and im away for a drive.
