Radiator replace????

I need to replace the driver side radiator on my 2000 Carrera. Got a small leak in the plastic casing. The leak is really small but I'm not taking any chances so I'm trying to replace the leaking radiator as soon as possible, like this weekend. While I will be draining the coolant I would also like to replace the thermostat to a 160 from the stock 180 degree.

Now I have some questions for the ones that have done this before. I will have to drain the coolant to be able to replace the radiator should I be worried about the remaining coolant in the system If I can not drain it all? The current coolant is 7k miles old.

I do not have a vacuum system to help with the draining process so I will be doing it old school.

How much total coolant + water goes in the system? To know how much of the pink stuff to purchase.

Do I need to replace anything else like hoses or washers or gaskets?

I've heard it's a PITA job to do. I don't think draining it "old school" will completely drain the system of coolant and refilling it requires that you have no air in the system.

Peak 50/50 coolant is compatible with OEM Porsche coolant but if you want to pay the outrageous price for coolant from the dealer that's your choice.

I'd find an indie who can do the job and do it right.

i've changed both sides. It's not the hardest thing i've done on the car. I did not drain all the fluid out when i did it. I would suggest getting the upper and lower hoses just in case. Some of the clamps are a ***** to get off if Porsche put them on backwards.

@jr I figured it was not that big of a deal, when I took the bumper off I got a good idea of the set up. Plus I got a drawing of the fan assembly. I guess what I'm more concerned with is the coolant mixing old with new. And did you raise up the back and let the car idle to burp it out? Was the containers cap off when it was idling and you just keep refiling it?
