996 LED's front and back.... I'm in love all over again

The title speaks for itself. I decided that that my p car needed a little love. I drive it about 2k a year. I bought the headlights from Del Ray customs and the Dectane tail lights from FVD Brombacker in Florida. (FVD.us or .de) They are a branch of a German company so they can ship the lights here without the VAT. I paid $721 shipped to my door in So Cal. I did just checked and the Depo are a bit less on ebay. I think they're the same, not sure. The first set that they shipped were damaged in shipping due to VERY poor packaging. Namely they shipped them in the flimsy box that one would expect such items to be displayed in on a stores shelf. They chocked it up to a new shipping clerk and got on to the business of sending some new ones and arranging for the picking up of the old ones. Other than the delay it was a good experience. The owner called me from Germany to check on my experience. I posted some pics in an album called bye bye fired eggs......hilarious

You can't be THAT much in love with your 996 if you only drive her 2000 miles a year. When you are in love with a girl, that's ok to stay in the house and do whatever, but it's a 911 dang nammit and you need to take her out more often. She likes you to raise her temperature every couple of days. She likes to be man handled. Not to be left in a cold garage all alone. She likes for her booty to be lifted and tinkered with once in a while hahaha.

You kiss yo mamma with that mouth!?! LOL! I know that I don't give her the road time that she deserves. It's that damn work thang cutting into my "drive her like you stole her" every weekend thang. To be honest you do make a fair and legit point. On the other hand, I have shown her quite a bit of love with the lights, a show quality detailing, not to mention the fresh black rims and new Toyo Proxes all around. Cheers!!

No photos = it never happened. let's see 'em.

I've discovered that I'm not smart enough to do two things in this forum. The first is to embed pictures into a post. The second is to update my "garage" with my list of rides. Having said that, I did have my brain cell orbit around long enough to create an album labeled "bye bye fried eggs hello LED's! A little help for the forum challenged?

By the way, nice stripe!

OS Inspector 11-20-2013 07:41 AM

put them into photobucket or similar site and send the link here

alanwestport 11-20-2013 10:09 AM

Brilliant! Thanks.

alanwestport 11-20-2013 10:19 AM

Ok, so I put the link for the album that I created here under Albums. It just shows up as a link and doesn't embed the pics in the post. But it's a start. Here's the link to my pics. I hope you folks agree that my money was well spent!

How much we're the headlights? I just installed dectanes and its the best mod so far!

RDykmans 11-20-2013 11:55 AM

both units just plug and play?

goto35 11-20-2013 02:35 PM

My problem on the headlights are that my headlight have the jet sprayer. I don't know if I want to lose that.

Wausau 911 11-20-2013 04:04 PM

Looks good, now on to new engine mounts?

alanwestport 11-20-2013 04:59 PM

They were $995!!!!! Yikes right!?! They come in black and chrome. Obviously I thought that black would be the way to go on a black car. The replacements were plug and play front and back. The new headlights took a bit more "encouragement" to lock into place. Unlike the stock ones which once in the correct place made a little pop sound and all was good, the aftermarkets required about 2-3 times the leverage to pop. Not a big deal but a little nerve racking at first. I never want to force something to make it fit. Otherwise a very nice factory look and feel. As for the nozzles, no such luck. There is no way to mod it since the corner is not a cut out. Motor mounts will have to wait because I am considering making the white LED's along the bottom daylight running lights. I am going to have to do a bit of creative wiring but it looks pretty cool to have the white LED's on and then turn on the blinker. They fade on and off when the blinker starts and then stops. Check out this youtube vid.

Looks great. I have the headlights as well as the first LED taillights that came out. Love the look they give to the car. Did you add HID'S to the head lights? I put a set in the main beam and the fog lights.

alanwestport 11-20-2013 09:42 PM

Thanks. I'm pleased with two exceptions. First the price, which I'm almost over. The second is the high beams. A beat weak. I will go HID once I've done my research. I've seen pics where people have melted and discolored their factory lights by going too big on the HID. I don't want to make that mistake. What luminosity did you go with and did you choose the large or small ballast? Is bi xenon an option? I don't know. Need to research, but yes an upgrade is in order.

I have those as well, and in 18 months, have probably only used them about 2-3 times, and just for the novelty, more than anything else.

Unless you drive your car in the snow/mud or never wash your car headlight washers aren't really needed or useful IMO.

That depends on where you live. If you drive on mountain roads in the winter like I do, then headlight washers are an absolute must have item. We get a thick coating of road grime on the front of our cars out here, and the washers make a huge difference.

I went with 6000k Slim HID's,and 3000k Yellow slim for the fog light. I don't think you can go Bi Xenon because there are 3 bulbs in the headlight assembly.

If you ever try and use them when driving more than 10 mph there's a good chance you will lose them anyway lol

Thanks J. I'm going to go that route. I might hold off on the fog lights. We don't get a lot of fog here in Orange County California, in fact I drove in fog a couple of weeks ago for the first time in at least 5 years and the stock fogs worked fine.

looks great!

Led Hi beams

I bought a set of led blubs for the high beams I put them in and they didn't work, moved them the fog lights. They worked went back and the high beams and low didn't work, found out the light switch went out, replaced the light switch, left the Led's in the fog lights, will try Led's later, when I figure out what caused the switch to bad. The switch worked on every thing except the head lights, hi and lo beam both sides, every thing worked before installing the led's in the high beam sockets.
