997 and 996 muffler cans

Anyone know if the 997 c2 muffler cans fit on the 996 c2's. Are the 997 muffler cans any less restrictive then the 996 muffler cans?

I believe the 997 mufflers need trimming to fit
The inlet pipe is longer where it mates to the cat
Than on the 996

Perhaps others can chime in

Why not go for aftermarket or fister?

Fabspeed has some videos on their site that show the internal components of the mufflers. I recall that the 996/997 mufflers are essentially identical internally. I believe the standard headers on the 997.1 are actually more restrictive than the 996 headers.

There's some 997 mufflers for a steal right now and if they provide any better sound and flow then the 996 mufflers, I was thinking about picking them up but if they don't bolt right up the gundo hack will probably be the next step. Have new headers and the K&N intake air system and makes some good sounds but only past 4,000rpm.

The bypass pipes make some nice sounds but I think I'm upsetting some of the neighbors lol. Had a taste (with the bypass pipes) of what these 996's can sound like and trying to find a medium.

I'm using the Gundo hack/Fisters and like it alot, after 3k rpm you get a nice sound, and when you first start to move it growels low. I don't have the K&N intake but I do have a K&N free flow filter and silicon air intake hose.
