Key Fob loses remote lock/unlock ability

My key fob will not remotely open the doors on my 1999 C4 if I don't drive it for four or five days - I have 40k miles on this Porsche which was purchased new and dealer serviced. However once I manually unlock the doors it begins to recapture the 'remote' feature. When I drive it daily I don't have this problem. Has anyone encountered this problem (and solution)? I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

Key fob

This is normal, I have the same issue. And the way to get back is using the key on the doors lock.

I've read that 4-5 days of inactivity and your key fob goes into battery saving mode. You'll have to manually unlock your door then press the key button on the fob to reactivate. I don't know how reliable this info is because I have a spare key for my 99 996 that wasn't used for 6 mos and it unlocked the doors.

I finally figured this out that by manually unlocking the door with the key it reactivates the remote feature - I was wondering why this happens in the first place. Thanks for all your input - it's been a real pleasure being part of this group!

It's power saving to avoid running down the battery when car is not used for extended period.

The car turns off the receiver to prevent drainage of the battery , i have a 996 and a 997 that both do this.
