Hey everyone,
Hoping you can help me out.
My 99 C4 shut off while driving on the highway this morning.
3/4 tank of gas, didn't over heat, no check engine warning lights
Luckily I coasted to the shoulder without causing an accident
I still have electricity in the car but it won't turn on.
My CEL reader keeps coming back with ERROR, which I've never experienced before

Any ideas???

Was there an elevation change in the road? Were you experiencing higher G forces, around a curve, for example? Ever since installing a supercharger, my car will randomly experience the same thing. I never seem to have my durametric with me when it happens. Is your car a Cabriolet?

 

Bad fuel pump or loss of pressure in the fuel system.

 

^^^ I agree. Check the fuel pump.

 

I remember after installing a DME chip in a BMW a few years back, my car sporadically shut off too. Turned out the chip was coming just slightly loose before rocking itself back into place. If you've done anything similar, check that!
