I just ordered an 06 997S Club Coupe with X51, PCCB, NAV, Bose, 6 CD, mats, full leather, Sports Chrono, Leather Sun Visors, Special Paint and heated electric sport seats for a cost of about $116k US.
Taxes, taxes, taxes... and in the end add a 19% VAT

In Malaysia, a Honda Accord cost over $100K and a Civic is not far behind. Much of these price hype is a way for the government to control what they want their citizens to buy or not to buy. I guess the bottomline is that, if one wants luxury and prestige, he/she will have to pay for it.

Would be interesting to also know some info on house pricing and income, and perhaps some average car pricing too.

But no matter how you look at it, cars are cheap in the US. I think I remember they are rather cheap in the middle east ...

Tax is very high in Australia with the highest banding ie over AU$45k being 49%, they have a sales tax of 10% but then luxury cars are taxed even further. Good thing though is that the state subsidises most of the services like schools, medical system, public transport etc. Rates of pay in Australia are quite low however working conditions are excellent, as they have an employer contribution scheme for pensions. Also the general cost of living is quite low. Basically the state

In the UK, income tax is lower, however sales tax is higher (17.5%). All essential services are subsidised by the state, general cost of living is very high (second to tokyo). Property prices in London are up there with the best parts of New York, however so are the salaries. Working conditions are not as good as Australia however, but better than America I hear. London is different to the rest of England however with people in my company getting paid a 20% loading in their salaries because they work in London rather than any other of the major cities. Comparisons between London and New York are that New Yorkers get paid 15-20% more, cost of living is about 10-15% less however the average working week is longer than the average here in London. Tax rates are lower in the US, however the state doesnt subsidise health and education as much as over here. I'd like to make the switch at least for a few years and experience New York.

Greece is a funny one, cost of living is about the same as the rest of Europe, average salaries are below average, however senior positions are on par if not higher than the rest of europe. If I were to spend a few more years working for my company until Im 30 or so I could transfer to Greece and get basically the same slary for the same job. If I left now I would take quite a large pay cut. Its strange, but in Greece people that are willing to work hard get rewarded for it. I think Lefteri can fill us in a lot better than me.
