Brakes squeaking only when NOT being applied!
Hey all,
I have the obnoxious problem of my front brakes squeaking once per revolution when they are not in use, but the noise goes away immediately when the brake pedal is pressed (and will come back once I let off). I have looked for any clear signs of poor fit, etc. and it all looks good. What makes it hard to figure out is that the whole thing is totally intermittent - for a few miles it squeaks, then it doesn't, then it does again.
I recently replaced the rotors, but the pads were in great shape so I left them on. The brakes themselves work fine. I use them regularly at high speeds (120-140MPH) and they feel/work fine.
Is there something common that could be the cause here? Otherwise, I will pull it all apart and try to see what's causing it.

Your problem might just be your old pads. They were bedded in on your old rotors, they matched the profile of the old rotors, ridges and all. The now ridged pad are trying to contact your smooth new rotors. It may go fully away as your pads wear more.
