Convertible top

Hello everyone, I have a 2k 996 cab. I'm having problems with the top. I manually open the rear deck lid and it operated fine. However the deck lid motor did not turn on. Has anyone had a similar problem. Is it the motor,a solenoid,a sensor, a relay,or all the above. Before I spend money on a motor, are ther any checks I can do. Thanks.

Get it into service mode and work from there. There are far too many things which can hold up the top from not operating to list here. Read up about them. There have been several postings on RENNLIST of the convertible top failing. You may get better help from there. Try a spot of grease on the back hinge and try again from the key in the door position. Not manually.

Everything works in series. I'm pretty sure that the windows are the first to go down which triggers a microswitch. The clamshell may open at the same time and there is a microswitch in there as well.

As stated - too many micro-switches and contacts to monkey with. I would take it into the dealer and have the system diagnosed and fixed. Or, take it to your mechanic for repair.
