1999 996 transmission problems

Hi all, I'm new here. I'm interested in a 99 model 996 that has a transmission issue. It pops out of first gear sometimes and sounds/feels like a crunch or grinding noise from third gear into fourth. Wondering if anyone has had similar issues? I'm new to Porsche but have always wanted to own one. Your input is greatly appreciated, thanks. It's a c4

I'll take a stab; it could be the shaft bearings causing the pop out, incorrect gear oil (to light needs 75w). There have been many who experienced 2nd gear pop out and installed the GBOX Detent, I know of one person who experienced 1st gear pop out and installed it and the problem went away.

But to the latter problem with grinding sounds like the clutch is not full engaging, but start with the Detent first, minor inexpensive fix first, let's try least expensive first.

Is that company still in business? It doesn't look like you can order one or even have prices on their website. The copyright date at the bottom is 2007.

I recently had the same issue issue with 1st gear but no others were problematic. Contact Frank at porschewrench@gmail.com and he may be able to sort you out as well.
