30k service contest - Boxster vs. 996
Some of the local Porsche owners showed up for a work on cars day. The contest was to see who could complete the 30k service first. The Boxster or 996 team. The Boxster team won. The 996 team cried foul right away, claiming were were a little slow in giving them tools.
Then a little rain show came throught, lasted maybe 10 seconds, and the 996 team complained we continued to work under an umbrella.
So the 996 team was given an umbrella to stop their complaining.
But look at this. The 996 team had 2 people under the car changing spark plugs at the same time. The Boxster team just one.

Hey Jeff, Loren and all. Thanks again for the help in servicing my 996. Well, I should only really thank Loren since Jeff hogged the tools we needed! :P. I never got over to see how much easier the Boxster was to do because Loren and I were under my car for about 3 hours! If the damn headers and exhaust were not in the way it would of been easy in the 996. What am I saying.... it's a Porsche.... it's supposed to be difficult
Thanks again. It was nice seeing everyone again... and meeting new people. The best thing of all EVERYTHING WORKS!
FYI- Other 996 owners.... You DO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE PLUGS AT 30K if you have a 1999-2002. Porsche changed the plug changing interval after 2001 or 2002 to 60k. When we got the plugs out they were as clean as can be....We found out there is no need to do it at 30k on any Porsche 996. Save the cash.

Hogging tools.
Not my fault that little Toto dog was slow at fetching the tools for the 996 team, or that Toto did not know what was wobbler extension was when he picked up tools from the Boxster team and dropped them off to the 996 team.
All kidding aside, I did not think there was a clearance issue for a spark plug change on a 996. Not hard to do on a Boxster. But then, the clearance for a 996 oil change is better than for a Boxster. Jeff

It was a fun day! Looking forward to doing it again. Too bad the Bi-Xenon headlamps didn't work perfectly or I would have snuck off with Robyn or Val's. hahahaha
The console install is a piece of cake now =)
