broken vacuum tube
broken vacuum tube
I couldn't believe I drove the car with a broken vacuum tube for almost 2 yrs.
I'd just noticed it when I try to install my Fabspeed comp intake. I think the shop broke it when they installed the alternator. Shouldn't that have thrown a CEL cause nothing came on. I did a Macgyver & found what ever I have in the garage (Pvc connector, rubber tubing, JB weld). These damn tubes are so brittle. I was afraid I might break another one while fixing this one. What does this tube do anyway? I didn't feel any sputtering or sluggish when driving.

I ended up replacing ALL of the vacuum tubes with flexible tubing - Pelican sells it. I think that one is connected to the air pump system. You will here the air pump go on for 5 minutes or so when you first start the car - it helps reduce emissions.
How do you replace the 2 inner tubes? They're so far back unless you lower the engine which something I don't want to tackle.
My quick hr long fix will have to do for now.
